"Safe" mode message
I'm getting a "Safe" message in the front panel display and the remote and front panel eject/close buttons will not work. I can push on the dvd tray and it will close and I can then play or record, but when I eject I again get the "Safe" message.

What DVD do I buy to record on?
I want to copy movies from my Hughes Tivo box on to blank DVDs, but I don't know which type to buy. Since I don't have my manual to look this up, does anybody know which type I should buy?

What speed DVD compatible?

Many times a new DVD+R will not initialize. Sometimes it does, but most of the time it reads for a long time and then opens up.

recording dvds from the vhs tapes
How do I record dvds from the vhs tapes? We do not have a manual to this machine and I haven't been able to figure it out on my own. Also, does the vhs tape need to be playing on the tv to burn it to the dvd? Thanks!
