    Called cust. svc. for same problem.

    Solution: remove any disk in the tray and close it. Hold down the STOP button on the player (not remote) for 30 seconds then release. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

    What an easy fix! I lost my manual and have tried for days to get it off progressive mode and was at a stand still. How frustrating! Thanks for the tip!
