Won't Power On

We had a couple power outages and now the unit won't power-on. It was connected to a surge suppressor. There is a video tape still in the unit also. Any thoughts on how to get the tape out and if there is any kind of internal reset or a component that can be replaced at a reasonable cost? Thanks!

I have the go.video dvd.vcr recorder/need info

I am unable to record on the vcr since 2009 came in. nothing has changed.
I have reset the recording programs and I have unpluged unit for few minutes and re-set programs to record. what is wrong?
