The manual does not spell this out, 1. Insert the DVD into the unit. 2. When you see the 'loading bars' appear on the screen press 'setup' on the remote (I wait until bars are 2/.3 across to speed things up). 3. 'Edit' will be 'greyed' out on the screen. 4. When DVD finally loads, 'edit' will be accessible. 5. Select 'edit' > 'ok' > 'finalize' > 'ok'.
