Samsung VCR vr8807

no reception, but sound

My vcr is hooked up to comcaat digitital cable box. I started experiecing problems the past 3 weeks.

To record, the TV is set on channel 3, and the box is on whatever channel you want to record.

I can't get a picture. If I hit the re-set button on the VCR, and re- program, it will record ok, but when the timer comes on, I can't get a picture.

    Also, when I go through the VCR set-up from the VCR menu, I am not sure what options to choose with option 3, channel set-up. It asks for a reciever channel. I selected number 3 for all channels. Is this right?
    Do I have to add a code?
