Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-ES40V

accidentaly set remote to code2 how to I get it back to code 1

friend playing with remote..accidentally set the code to 2 and it must be 1 to work the machine.

can not find the manual..can you tell me what screens says to get it back to code 1..when I cant see it on the tv ?
