remote problems

trying to find a universal remote to operate a magnavox vcr/dvd recorder combo

    I have the same exact problem. Every time i press and hold dvd/power buttons, it just blinks 3 times but wont stay lit to let me do code search. I managed to program the vcr part of it through the vcr search function but it does nothing to control the dvd part of it.

    I had the exact problem for forever and finally found out a "solution."
    Try looking on ebay for this exact remote (yes ebay) not to buy it but just to read the description. It says there that the manufacturer made it to support only RCA products; therefore you shouldn't hope to program any other device with it. It is hardwired to work with only certain TV's, DVD players, VCR's, and Cable Boxes.
