Curtis International DVD Player DVD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW PLAYER DVD 1046

connect player to my laptop

Both my Curtis dvd player, and my laptop have S-video connections, so I used an s-video cable to connect my Curtis dvd player to my Compaq laptop, hoping to give my internal laptop dvd player a rest, but it doesn't work and I don't know why. My computer manual says this should work.
