DVD player

Although connected to the TV the dvd player will not switch on/off or open/close. There is a DVD in it - would this be the reason.

DVD Player

Make sure that both on/off switches are activated - one at the rear and one at the front of player. Inserted DVD should not make any difference. Also check Fuse in plug!
