Adjusting the sound
To adjust the sound:
1 Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens.
2 Press or to highlight Audio, then press or
ENTER. The Audio menu opens.
3 Press or to highlight an option, press
ENTER to access the option, then press or
to adjust the option or press or to select the
setting. You can adjust:
Equalizer—Select Off for normal frequency
response or On for optimized frequency
response.
Equalizer Mode—(Available when Equalizer
is On) Selects the sound mode. You can select
Custom (for a customized sound mode),
Standard (for normal programs), Theater (for
enhanced treble and base), Music (for musical
programs), or News (for news programs). You
can also press AUDIO one or more times to
select the equalizer mode.
Equalizer Setting—(Available when the
Equalizer is On) Select to make custom audio
settings.
Treble—(Available when the Equalizer is Off)
Adjusts the high sounds.
Bass—(Available when the Equalizer is Off)
Adjusts the low sounds.
Balance—Adjusts the balance between the
left and right audio channels.
Digital Audio/SPDIF—Sends digital audio to
an external audio system. Options are RAW (to
pass through the original digital audio sound),
or PCM (to send 2-channel stereo audio).
MTS/SAP—(Analog programs only) Lets you
select an alternate to the program’s main
audio. See “Selecting the audio mode” on
page 18.
Audio Language—(DTV channels only)
Selects an alternate audio language, if
available.
Auto Volume—Equalizes the overall volume
levels for all channels.
Reset Audio Settings—Resets all audio
settings to factory default.

Press MENU to return to the previous menu, or
press EXIT to close the menu.
Selecting the audio mode
You can select the audio mode for analog channels.
To select the audio mode for analog channels:
See “Adjusting the sound” on page 18 to make
settings through the on-screen menu.
- OR -
Press MTS/SAP on the remote one or more times.
You can select:
MONO—Select this option if there is noise or
static on weak stereo broadcasts.
STEREO—Select this option for programs
broadcast in stereo.
SAP—Select this option to listen to a
secondary audio program, if available.
To select an audio track for a digital channel:
Press MTS/SAP. If an audio track is available, it
plays.
