I have four of these and have been looking for the service manual for four years. One hint. The power supplies quit on these all the time. Mostly the power transistor, the chip(L6565N) and the electrolytics. Put in a higher amp transistor and use caps designed for SMPS. Also check the failsafe feedback circuit. I cannot remember if it is run by a triac or zener. If it is a surface mount use a thru hole and heat sink it. The holes are already there, they just got cheap.

the reader slides back and forth, thereby not being able to read. it seems to be missing a part to stop it from sliding, otherwise it seems to be able to function properly. found a little plastic piece inside but cannot tell if it's broken or if not where it belongs.

(previously connected to antenna) The limited control panel on the player does not allow reverse, fast forward, nor pause, etc. Tried new battery for remote. How do I get remote to work? Do I need to change connection to TV from DVD player???

It takes innumerable times for a disc to be accepted.Using DVD+RW. With a timed recording must the cable box be "ON" and I assume you can't record and watch a different channel.

I have recently hooked up my JVC XV-M50 DVD player using Component inputs and I can not change the format of the picture. I have a widescreen television and the picture is square. How can I adjust the formats.
