The power cord works, the screen lights up with logo, but when a DVD is inserted, it does not spin and pressing "play" does nothing. I've tested the remote; it's OK. I've read the manual, but can't figure out why the DVD won't spin to play. I've tried three DVDs, and all of them just sit in the DVD cradle. Any ideas, please.

When I put a home recorded DVD+R disc in this player, I get a screen which says "NO Disc". It will play DVD-R discs, CD's and commercial discs, but not DVD+R. Why and what is the fix, if any?
