I have an old Go Video dvd/vcr player I have hooke...

I have an old Go Video dvd/vcr player I have hooked up to my Coby ledtv2316 TV. I have the my cabel provider's wall input going into to the dvd player out to the TV, but it degrades the quality of the TV. Is there a better way to install the dvd player that doesn't degrade TV viewing?
