I have a 24" Curtis TV combo. I never used the DVD...

I have a 24" Curtis TV combo. I never used the DVD feature. I don't have a manual for this unit. My problem is that the DVD won't load and I don't want to force the disc in. Is there a button or steps I need to go thru with the remote.
