thereis a WHITE PLASTIC SHEET IN THE DVD slot should that be pulled out before placing the DVD in the slot?

0 Yes, you have to remove the plastic sheet. It's put in there as a protection for the lens during transport. If it doesn't have a tab to pull it out, then press the eject button.
