5 I used to work at Directv and I know that the D11 box is an old sd (standard definition) box and if you have an HD satellite dish, it may not connect correctly. A few things you might try is making sure the room you're setting the box up in is wired for service. If not, a technician will have to be called out. If the room is wired and the satellite dish is standard then you should have no problem... Just plug the receiver into the wall, the coaxial from the wall to the receiver and the receiver to the tv with other coaxial... Also, Directv has converted most of the country to HD so call Directv and see if they can't get you an upgraded receiver for free... Most of the time depending on your loyalty they can upgrade your receivers at no cost to you as well as have a technician install it for you
