HELP!!! I cannot control my volume with the remote...

HELP!!! I cannot control my volume with the remote or manually...the channels continuously change nonstop, I don't know what to do with the darn thing, it's only 3 years old and has been well cared for so what do you think I should do? Eileen Prine
