I have a Goldstar VCR model GHV1280M. When I play the cassette, the cassette kicks in but I just get wavy lines on the TV with no sound or picture. I know I have it connected properly. What can I do to get the picture and sound on the TV or tell me what is wrong? Angelo

5 Most likely the "Head" on the player is dirty. After extended periods, dust and grime will build up on the "head". You should hold open the door that the tape enters, and use a clean long shafted swab and denatured alcohol to clean the head thoroughly. (The head is a shiny metal cylinder in the back center of the loading chamber). After cleaning is finished, load a tape, start it playing, and adjust the tracking until the picture is clear and smooth. Also note this depends on the tape being in good condition. Mylar-magnetic tape degrades over time and you should look to replace with a DVD player (or digital player) as soon as you can.
