Question About Home Theater Direct Universal Remote MX-500

Cannot get the dvd type buttons to learn for the vip 722 dish dvr. Large center control button' channel, power all work from pre program. Ten lcd buttons learn ok. Remote says "good",and the transmit icon shows transmission but will not affect the dvr.
