im sure i just have the av cables plugged wrong, i have cable to the TV then 3 part AV cables from vcr/dvd to the tv. i cant seem to record on vcr tapes (yes i know, get a dvr, but until then) and im sorry i dont have the model # with me. but it is an old model obviously
