LG DR787t How to record from tv...

I have an LG 787Tdvr connected to a Visio VXT472SV. HD Cable box from COMCAST. How do I record to the DVRwhen I have to change HDMI inputs from 1 to 3. If I am on TV how do I record to the DVR?
