Question About LG Electronics Flat Panel Television 42PC1DV

we have switched over to digital television but when i go into menu (tv set to DTV) under STATION and AUTOMATIC PROGRAMME then START (pressing the centre button each time) the black line just jumps back to AUTOMATIC PROGRAMME and doesnt do anything more? Any ideas anywhere?
