My MWD2208 VHS player will not play tapes. The tapes begin, run for about twenty seconds, and then the entire VCR/DVD unit turns itself off. I have tried to use this product with multiple discs and the same thing happens without fail. How do I fix it?

0 I just recently started to have this issue as well. I had tried to do a timed recording on VCR and after I set it, it recorded only a minute or so then stopped, turned off and the channel changed off of chn 3 without my touching it! i've tried everything but dont know how to fix. I have this "stopping" issue when i try to just play a VCR or DVD as well. very frustrating for a device that's not even a year old!

0 I have been having this same problem! It is very frustrating. I put in a brand new Tape and hit record and it will record for 15 seconds then turn off. I then turn it on and it spits out my tape. It is recording those 15 seconds so I know its capable. Anyone know how to fix this????

0 Someone from my church gave me one of these machines because he bought a new system and stopped using it. I had the same problem with it shutting itself off after several seconds. After repeated tries, I decided to open it and see if I could find the problem. What I found was a game CD stuck in the VCR drive. One of his small children must have stuck it in there. It seems that if this machine senses something mechanically wrong, jammed, or out of alignment, it will shut itself off. I've found that fiddling with these things over the years, that when their first turned on, they check themselves to see if the mechanical parts are in the default parked position. In this case, if something is not right, it shuts itself off.
