0 if your tv has the following ports in the back a red and a white and a yellow then you have a newer set if not a modulator will be needed so lets say its a newer set red from your dvd players audio out to the tv's red socket audio in and now white do the same then see a yellow plug thats the dvd's vidio out plug it in to the vidio in on uour tv
