my memorex dvd mvd 2040, when a dvd is loaded, the...

my memorex dvd mvd 2040, when a dvd is loaded, there is only a black and white image and no sound? any ideas? We have played dvd's on this player before with no problem. Also, the dvd plays just fine on our other player.
