Question About Mintek TV DVD Combo None

The buttons on the remote control and TV don't work. The on and off button does work of the remote control. Whe I press the power button the screen goes black; then it takes a few seconds tfor the sound to shut off. But when I try to change volume or move it to DVD mode nothing happens
