i cannot get my GE Universal remote 24914 to navig...

i cannot get my GE Universal remote 24914 to navigate the DVD menu. I have used the search codes function and the remote turns the device on/off but will not go up and down the menu for selection function. Please advise.

0 I have the manual in my hand. I have followed those instructions and still do not have navigation capability.
