Is there a way to stop the remore from my Panasoni...

Is there a way to stop the remore from my Panasonic DVD-RV20 from working my Panasonic DMR-EX77EB at the same time. The instructions for the DMR-EX77EB say you can change the synchronization of the remote but the other unit doesn't.
