Question About Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-ES40V
DVD Playback Password...

We have been using our unit for three years playing VCR and DVD's. Yet today when I went to play a mountain bike DVD, the message said the DVD exceed the rating level, when I checked the level is set to 0. To my knowledge we had never set a playback password protection. We have had a number of power fluctuations this past month. How do I reset this password so I can set the default back to 8.

5 I had the same problem and found a solution that worked. "(Here is that workaround: Power unit on. Open DVD tray. Press and hold REC and PLAY on the machine for over 5 seconds, if done correctly the DVD tray will remain open. The ratings password setting will return to default setting. The default ratings is "8") - I had to do it a few times to get the tray to stay open, but after it did, the rating level changed back to 8.
