I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-EX77 it will not let me set the clock so I cannot set the timer. It was ok at the start but now I cannot access "set clock"

0 I already have the manual and followed the instructions to the letter but it will not allow me to reset the clock. I followed "function menu" .."others"..."set up" but it will NOT go to set up it flashes onscreen and disappears before you can choose what you want to do.
