I have Panasonic VCR of the model NV-HD675. Haven’t used very often. Recently it started appearing following symptom. While playing the Video cassette the picture quality gradually become worse and then become fine. This action repeats. It looks like the signal gets distorted as per AC frequency interference. Do you know what may have gone wrong?

4 It sounds to me like either one of a number of factors including: worn or dirty heads - try cleaning the upper drum cylinder with a lint-free chamois and isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits (DO NOT use q-tips or cotton buds to do this) gently wipe the drum axially (follow the lines on it with the unit unplugged from power first). If this doesn't cure the picture quality problem then it's probably the E-E on the motherboard to the heads, since this model does not employ a shielded head amp behind the drum - the lower cylinder connects via a ribbon directly to board, therefore making repair cost uneconomical. try cleaning heads carefully first though. In the final place, the heads may need replacing, you can find generic head cylinders but in this model the upper drum has the motor and coils, so it might be expensive. These are suggestions only - it is up to you - you may be lucky saving money by simply cleaning the video drum assembly, the CTL (on right side of mech.), and FE head (the erase head on left side of mech.) Don't forget to clean or replace the pinch roller and clean the capstan shaft (near CTL) clean the guides too. I assume all the channels are working OK.
