The instructions with the remote does not help with closed captioning features and I have no way of know about the tv itself.. I am deaf and I was told over and over that the universal remote will help...I have wasted money buying these remotes and the TV is new, I am renting a condo it is RCA tv/vcr combo with dish network box on side.. I am really kind of desparate, because I am missing lots of news and weather reports because I can't get the closed caption on. there is no remote for the tv itself and I cannot hear to call.. Thank you much... and not thank you I have no intention signing on for any free membership...I hate being forced to submit... not nice at all... so had to fake zip code
