5 Also on DVR 320H, DVR 420H recorders and others with same power supply. Solution is to replace voltage regulator MR2920 (IC101 on power supply board) and extra thermal paste on the heat-sink; also upgrade firmware to prevent possible recurrence. Cost me £9 for new voltage regulator and a friend soldered it in. Result - working like new again.

5 www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/pioneer-dvr-520h-please-shuts-off-t357470.html has the link from German user zerberusad with pics halfway down the German forum page. You'll need Google translate or similar unless you speak the lingo. I bought the IC (MR2920) from nikko-electronics.co.uk for £8.99 + VAT + p&p. My friend took 30mins to replace it and added some more thermal paste to the heatsink.

0 DVR-720H power cuts out after switching off or using the timer recording. I have same problem. Could eventually get started by disconnecting and reconnecting power lead. Was a solution found? nigel.helsby@btinternet.com

0 Mine does the same thing. Sometimes I need to leave it unplugged for several hours and then plug it back in. Obviously it is a common fault with these units. Has anyone spoken to Pioneer?

0 I downloaded a service manual, measured all the PSU voltages and generally probed around. Could not find a problem. But, since I did all that it has not happened again which suggests a bad connection at one of the connectors perhaps that was put right by the efforts above. Not much to go on but I hope it helps

0 That's interesting, I will try it - is it believed that the regulator is somehow shutting down when the unit is in standby, and generally recovers when the unit is left unpowered for some time? How is the firmware upgrade believed to help? I agree with the user who found after probing around the fault no longer occurred - I found that seemed to happen too - but eventually the fault would return. How do you upgrade firmware?

0 I don't know the answers to those queries. I will look up the link I found to a German forum which discovered the fault and has photos of how the guy fixed it. I haven't even found the firmware update yet but if I do I will use it as I found a comment on another site which says you need to do an update to prevent the fault recurring (hopefully after some time!)
