This Proscan 42 inch flat screen has terrible sound quailty. Is there anything that can be adjusted or is there a set of external speakers that will work?

5 It works better with SP/DIF out. Get a 1/8" stereo phone plug adapter from1/8" Stereo to Stereo RCA and run into your AUX input on your Hi-Fi Power Amp. The Flat Panel Speakers are not so bad, except that if you try to get full BASS response out of them they will distort: Use your remote and go to MENU>AUDIO and set the BASS to 70 and TREBLE 85, Surround Sound = ON, SP/DIF type = Dolby Digital and Auto Volume Control = ON.

5 All onboard speakers for these Flat Panel TVs and Monitors are for convenience, not for any great quality. the speakers on the PROSCAN are better than usual, especially for late night viewing, as you get full Aural response at a very low volume. Go and buy an inexpensive DIGITAL surround sound system and use the SP/DIF - I you don't understand what that is, bring your user manual to Radio Shack and have them show you.
