I was given an Advent Q2035A television and tried ...

I was given an Advent Q2035A television and tried connecting it to my dvd player. I feel that I connected it properly but it is black and white and kind of squiggly. The previous owner of the tv had no problem using her gaming system on it. Did I misconnect it? Is there a TV manual available?
