On model UE32H5000 how do I set up for external sp...

On model UE32H5000 how do I set up for external speakes PHYSICALLY, not on the hand held control unit.? I have connect 2 good speakers to the output (I hope) for external speakers but when I switch to external I get no sound. Is there something I am missing ou? The manula is not very good for this sort of thing. RGS
