Question About Sanyo Universal Remote None

I also have Sanyo RDW 686 everything appears to be working all the appropriate lights come on but I cannot get any sound, I am not sure if the picture will help because in the picture it is not set-up properly (it was put this way for picture purposes only). Thank you for any help you can provide. Donna
