How do I connect my TV to a Samsung HT-E5400 Home ...

How do I connect my TV to a Samsung HT-E5400 Home Theater system so that I can listen to TV audio through the Samsung surround sound? I have HDMI and optical cables in place to no avail. Some kind of settings? Or software/firmware upgrades/
