5 Power on (with no disc inserted) Press PAUSE Press 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9 Enter the desired RC Press PAUSE Turn the player off and wait a few seconds VCD playback Press PAUSE, 1, 4, 7, 2 Press UP 6 times, '07 00' should appear on the display Press Program 6, Program 5 ('07 FE' should be displayed) Press ENTER Press RETURN Power off and on again Turn on the player (without disc inserted) Open the disc tray (Press PAUSE) Press 0, 0, 0, (0) Enter region (1-6; 0=region free) (Press PAUSE) Turn it off

5 Region code hack posted by Helder, June 23 2011: The Ultimate DVD Upgrade CX850D Sony DVP-CX850D DVD MOD Kit Manual Macrovision disable All DVD players have a system called Macrovision built in to the player, which is designed to stop the copying of DVD discs to video. However, this system can have adverse affects on some projectors. For this reason the DVD MOD Upgrade disables Macrovision to solve any problems. User manual Put your player into „Standby“ Mode and enter one of the following commands if necessary: Remote control command Function [0] [ENTER] default Default region code on the player [1] [ENTER] Region 1 [2] [ENTER] Region 2 [3] [ENTER] Region 3 [4] [ENTER] Region 4 [5] [ENTER] Region 5 [6] [ENTER] Region 6 [SHUFFLE] [ENTER] Only play DVDs with the selected region; autoswitching OFF [PROGRAM] [ENTER] default Autoswitching ON [AUDIO CHANGE] [ENTER] Enable video interference impulses (Macrovision ON) [ANGLE CHANGE] [ENTER] default Disable video interference impulses (Macrovision OFF) [PREV] [ENTER] Enable user operation prohibitions* and access restrictions [NEXT] [ENTER] default Disable user operation prohibitions* and access restrictions The selected region code is visible in the Service Menu. Put your player into the standby mode and enter, in serie: [TITLE] [CLEAR] [POWERON] and [5]. Do not enter the other pages of the service menu. * The DVD can no longer prohibit you from using the fast-forward, chapter change or Audio-/Subtitle-/Angleswitch.

5 Open the drive tray Enter 9, 8, 1, 7 on remote to access the system menu Select region from 1 to 6 or set it to 9 for Multi-region. Macrovision can be disabled from this screen
