5 To remove the progressive scan feature, follow the URL below from the Sony esupport web site. The manual is not entirely clear because in order to turn off progressive scan you have to do the following: turn unit on, set unit to DVD, make sure there is no disc inserted, and hold the pause button on the front panel for 5-8 seconds., The progressive scan indicator will go out.
