5 The manual for the Sony RDR-VX500 is not entirely clear. To turn progressive scan off, do the following: (1) turn unit on, (2) make sure unit is set on 'DVD', (3) make sure there is no DVD disc inserted, (4) press pause button for 5-8 seconds. Progressive scan indicator will go off. See Sony esupport link below.

0 Whenever I pout a DVD-R in to be recorded on, the finalize option not only doesn't work but is not even an option since the "finalize" category never lights up. I've gone over the manual numerous times, but it doesn't address this problem. Now what?

0 Note: step (4) in above response must use pause button on the unit, not the remote.
