my tvs picture isnt very bright, even with the con...

my tvs picture isnt very bright, even with the contrast turned all the way up. when something im watching on tv encounters something dark, like watching horror movies, it gets even darker, like a screen saver kicking in, then brightens a little when theres more light from the show
