0 this is a technique that can be used to diagnose possible issues with your Sony Projection Television set and display it on screen. This is of course helpful assuming your Sony TV will at least turn on, even if it is off and on intermittently. The other possible way is of course to try and determine the issues by blinking off and on. While this information pertains specifically, to the KP-51HW40/KP57HW40 it may be compatible with many additional models. In summary, when there is a problem or malfunction on your television that makes it impossible to determine specific symptoms such as power going off or the screen turning to black -- a screen display can display if a problem occurred in the past, and whether the problem detection circuit function to verify the issue. To see the on-screen display to show the issue, while the TV is in the standby state, quickly press "Display", then Channel "5", then the minus "-" on the volume, and then finally the "Power" button from the remote control. The screen will then display the following self-diagnosis items: Self Diagnosis 2: +B OCP N/A 3: +B OVP N/A 4: V STOP 0 5: AKB 1 10: WOT 24 The number zero "0" means that there were no faults detected, while the number one "1" means that a fault was detected at least one time. What do the self-diagnosis items stand for? Here are the general definitions: OCP - Low B and +B line detect DET SHORT, and shut-down POWER ON RELAY. Reset by turning power on/off. In case of +B is loaded approx. 1.5A or more, microcomputer detects it via IC5005 OVP - In case of +B becomes approx. 150V or more, POWER ON RELAY shuts down and microcomputer detects it via IC5005. Reset by turning power on/off just the same as OCP. Low B Occurs when set +5V is out V Stop - In case of V Drive disappeared, Q8001 detecs it and shut-down POWER ON RELAY. Microcomputer detects it and makes LED blinking. AKB - IK detection. Makes LED blinking in case of microcomputer doesn’t detect IK returns of IC309 (CXA2150AQ) 20 seconds or more. H Stop - In case of H DRIVE is disappeared, Q378 detects it and shut-down POWER ON RELAY shuts down. Microcomputer receives H Stop data from Q378 and makes LED blinking. HV Stop - In case of HV becomes 33KV or more. IC8006 detects it and shut-down POWER ON RELAY. Microcomputer makes LED blinking. Audio - In case of DC component overlaps the output of Audio Amp., POWER ON RELAY shuts down. Microcomputer detects it and makes LED blinking. While this is helpful to start the diagnosis for a problem with your Sony Projection TV, it does not automatically clear or reset. For instance, if you perform a repair, or replace a part on the television, then this needs to be reset so it will return all the values to zero. In order to perform a wipe on the Results Display, make sure the TV is off and in standby mode. Then quickly press "Display", the Channel "5", then the plus "+" on the volume, and then finally the "Power" button to enter the service mode for the TV. Then simply press channel "8" and then "Enter" to send a test reset command which puts it back into the factory preset condition. At any time you can exit the self diagnosis screen display or service mode by pressing the power button on the remote control or on the television.
