We were given this Sony VCR without a manual and have it hooked up to our tv and use its remote to select channels, adjust volume, etc. for watching tv programs (using it like a receiver). Previously, we could enter (for example) channel 5 and hit the ENTER key and it would go to that channel with no problem. It worked fine for about 4 months even though it was frustrating not having a PREVIOUS or GO BACK to channel button/key with which to toggle back and forth between 2 channels (a second problem if anyone knows if there IS such a key on this remote to do that). Back to the first problem: for some reason when we now enter the channel number, it shows the number entered but when we hit the ENTER key, it doesn't go to that channel and we have to use the up and down channel key to get to a particular channel. The new channel number shows on the display but it won't go to that channel and in a second or so, it shows the channel on the display that was showing before trying to change it. It appears that something is locked and it won't let us key in a channel number. We'd appreciate any advice to solve the problem. Thank you very much.
