we have lost the ability to record from the TV. ...

we have lost the ability to record from the TV. we have gone through the whole manual and installed it again. we can get the green dot but it will not progress to red dot on the program guide. also the record will not highlight the record bar on menu. All cables have been checked. The entertainment logo will not highlight What can we do?
