Question About Toshiba CRT Television 40/50l3400u

my tv has a message that there Is a software update available and it is recommended-i am supposed to respond a yes if i want to proceed-i have pushed every button on the remote to try to get the TV to respond but am unable to do so. the message is on the tv screen and i cannot get it off!!! PLEASE HELP
