I have an old Toshiba DVD Player and the remote control is not working. It does not have a visible battery cover so i don't know how to change the battery. The bottom half of this 9 inch remote has a sliding cover over some buttons but no battery compartment that I can see. Do i have to break off this sliding cover to expose the battery compartment? I don't want to damage it but it seems to be the only place where the battery might be hidden

0 the remote is under the slider that you opened. There is a bump on the slider that you just lift up as you pull out. If you just pull hard you will probably get it open without hurting it. but it is better if you lift the top of the slider as you pull open.
