why does my recorder shut off when i turn it on .m...

why does my recorder shut off when i turn it on .model# DVR620KU This problem started when i put VHS tape in to clean it, at the time DVD was recording ,i switched the unit to VHS and inserted the cleaning tape and the unit shut off. Now every time i turn the unit on it shuts back off and will not eject the VHS cleaner tape. can you help?
