trying to connect onkyo tx8020 stereo receiver to ...

trying to connect onkyo tx8020 stereo receiver to 40L1400U Toshiba led tv. Stereo has tv in (rca jacks) and tv has analog out (rca jacks). cannot get sound through stereo and speakers attached to it. Am I missing something?
