My 2002 Toshiba tv won't turn on . The power light...

My 2002 Toshiba tv won't turn on . The power light keeps blinking on and off and will not respond to the remote or the power button on front of the set. The screen is black and I can't even get the menu screen. Its a Toshiba model 36A42.
